This Force Free program is designed for Moms and Dads-to-be and parents of infants and toddlers. We understand that having a baby can be exciting and stressful. You love your dog and want to make sure both baby and dog are safe and happy. Our program is specifically designed to guide you through planning for your baby’s arrival and teaching your toddler and dog to behave calmly and respect each other’s personal space and belongings.
We work with you and your dog to teach foundation skills needed so he will understand when to lay down and relax, move out of the way, drop items he shouldn’t have, leave items alone and more.
If you are a soon-to-be parent, we will work with you and your dog and show you how to desensitize your dog to baby sounds and equipment. This will lower your dog’s stress and curiosity before your baby even arrives.
In addition, we provide you with training on how to speak your dog’s language – what signs that will tell you your dog is stressed and what to do when this happens. Safety is of utmost concern so each technique we show you and teach your dog is designed to be incorporated into your baby-dog safety plan.
We will also help you plan boundaries and give suggestions for logistics when bringing your baby home and for your daily routine. Your training will consist of six (6) weekly one (1) hour training visits.
Just a few of the skills your dog will learn are:
- Boundary setting
- Going to a Place
- Walk behind or beside stroller
- What to do instead of jumping
- Leave It and Drop It
- Wait at doorways
*Adult dogs must be up to date on all vaccinations including Rabies, DAPP, and Bordetella (Kennel Cough).
